Arachnophilia: Why You Should Love Hawaiian Spiders This Halloween–and All Year Round!

Wednesday, October 29, 2025
10:30 a.m.

Our next topic in our virtual (Zoom) Forest Talk series is spiders!

Hawaiian spiders are incredibly diverse and full of surprises—from colorful leaf-dwellers to web-building specialists found only on single mountain tops. This talk explores how these unique arachnids reveal patterns of evolution, ecology, and biodiversity across the Hawaiian archipelago.

Presenter: Dr. Natalie Graham is a molecular ecologist and Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, where she leads the ʻElala Biodiversity Lab. Her research explores how human activity reshapes Hawaiian ecosystems, using DNA from specimens and environmental samples to uncover patterns of biodiversity and species interactions.

This event will take place via Zoom. Registration required.
